Marianna Zych was inspired to take up botanical art at High School. She fell in love with watercolours in 2021 after taking part in botanical illustration classes at the Botanical Garden of the University of Warsaw with Polish botanical artist, Izabela Wolska Kusminder. She has been attending various classes sporadically since. In 2023, in what was to become the first time displaying her artwork, Marianna won first prize in the 16-18 age group category in the Young Botanical Artist Competition initiated by The Shirley Sherwood Collection. Since then, she has become a member of the Scottish Society of Botanical Artists and has taken part in exhibitions in Scotland and Spain.
